Course Objectives:

  • Analyze panoramic radiographs and CBCT scans to determine appropriate case selection for third molar surgery.

  • Apply appropriate surgical techniques for impacted third molars, including flap design, osteotomy, tooth sectioning, suturing, and local anesthesia.

  • Perform third molar extractions using appropriate surgical instruments and techniques.

  • Identify strategies to prevent and manage complications, including bleeding, nerve injury, sinus exposure, tooth displacement, root fracture, and infection.

  • Apply platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) during third molar surgery.

  • Evaluate indications for Coronectomy and perform the procedure when appropriate.

  • Develop post-operative care and patient communication strategies.
